Tanesia serves as the director for civil rights for ECRT, where she provides oversight and guidance to investigators and equity specialists in responding to allegations of discrimination, discriminatory harassment, and retaliation. Tanesia works closely with campus partners and key stakeholders to address campus climate concerns, often providing consultation, education and resources that help to promote welcoming, supportive and inclusive classroom and workplace environments. Tanesia is also responsible for the implementation of the university’s affirmative action programming and supporting the university’s commitment to DEI(A), while complying with state and federal AA/EEO requirements.
Prior to joining the University of Michigan, Tanesia worked in a similar capacity in the Equal Opportunity and Diversity offices at Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University, respectively. She previously held several regulatory compliance positions in the banking industry and earned her certification as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM). Tanesia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. In her free time, Tanesia enjoys spending time with family, traveling and attending sporting events.
