Katrina Johnson

American Sign Language Interpreter

Katrina is an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter within the Disability Equity Office. She earned the National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) credentials. She also holds Michigan Medical/Mental Health and DeafBlind endorsements and Secondary Education specialty. Katrina obtained her BA degree in Interpreting from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN with a minor in Accounting.

Prior to joining the ECRT team, Katrina worked as an ASL interpreter in Video Relay Services (VRS), educational and freelance settings, as well as working as a Human Resource Developer for the State of Michigan Qualified Interpreter Program within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

In her free time, Katrina enjoys spending time outdoors, exercising, a good cup of coffee, and spending time with her family and friends, which includes her dog and thousands of honeybees.
