Sept. 16, 2026
Dear Faculty and Staff,
New, refreshed employee training is now available on your role in preventing and addressing sexual and gender-based misconduct within the University of Michigan community.
University policy requires all faculty and staff, including student employees, to report information learned in the scope of their employment about sexual and gender-based misconduct to the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX office within 48 hours.
The required training, Preventing and Responding to Sexual Misconduct, provides important information on university policy, employee reporting obligations, and how to respond to and support impacted individuals. (The training is available via a computer or tablet only.)
It replaces the Cultivating a Culture of Respect: Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Awareness training required of all employees since 2019.
The new training will help you:
- Understand the process and procedures for addressing sexual and gender-based misconduct.
- Respond appropriately to a disclosure of misconduct, including sharing available resources.
- Understand your reporting obligations and how to share information with ECRT.
- Learn about resolution options and what happens following a report to ECRT.
The training will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. You are required to complete the training by April 30, 2027.
Visit the Equity, Civil Rights, and Title IX website for more information. Please direct additional questions to the ECRT team at [email protected].
Thank you for fostering a safe and responsive community.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth Seney
Director for Gender Equity and Title IX Coordinator
